SHCC issues 711 license, sealing 1587 quackery outlets in year 2025

KARACHI (23 January, 2026)

The Sindh Healthcare Commission (SHCC) released the annual progress report January to December 2025, highlighting significant developments in healthcare regulation and quality enhancement in the province.

According to the report, during the past year 283 Healthcare Establishments (HCEs) were registered, while 663 Provisional License and 48 Regular Licenses were issued to the public and private HCEs after verification of following compliances under the SHCC Act 2013. Significantly 135 licenses were issued to public HCEs.

SHCC utilizes a comprehensive strategy to combat quackery, the execution of eradication campaigns, and the enhancement of public awareness drives. In this regard, awareness sessions were held at divisional level in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Benazirabad (SBA) and Sukkur for various public and private stakeholders in the month of December. These events were attended by Commissioners, SSPs, DCs, DHOs and other government officials.

The SHCC officials conducted 3251 anti-quackery drives across Sindh. Out of which 2114 quackery outlets were sealed. 527 were resealed after fulfilled the compliance with regulations.

The Commission regularly provides training to the staff of healthcare centers on notified standards. In the same period, 623 trainings were given to HCEs.The Commission received 68 complaints during last year and successfully resolved 54 percent while 31 complaints are in process.

The SHCC took strict action in HIV affected areas of Karachi and SBA and sealed various quackery outlets and lodged FIRs against persons who were involved running illegal HCEs.

Dr. Ahson Qavi Siddiqi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SHCC expressed that annual performance of various Directorates reflects the Commission’s commitment to enhancing patient safety and healthcare quality in across Sindh. “Our staff remain committed to transparency, accountability, and the highest standards of healthcare delivery, working for the benefit of the people of Sindh province,” he added further.

Moreover, SHCC also hosted 3rd meeting of the Joint Healthcare Regulators Forum which was attended by MPA Nida Khuhro, country representative of WHO, Federal Secretary MNHSR&C, CEOs of all Healthcare Commissions of provinces, representatives of PMDC, National council of Tib, Allied Health Professional council of Pakistan and National Council for Homeopathy, Pharmacy.

SHCC singed MoUs with various public and private entities. The officials had also held meetings with WHO, UNICEF, Pathfinder, and other government departments.
